The three-layer system
Calm Blue spot · scribble · armillary sphere
Every WBT collage is built from three layers, always in this stacking order — the signature decorative motif, used on heroes, service pages, bio pages, and card icons. It’s the brand’s “mosaic of people and perspectives” made literal.
- Watercolor spot (bottom) — a torn-edged single-color blob that sets the color mood. Four named families: Calm Blue, Clean Slate, Honest Ochre, Radiant Gold (~9 shape variants each).
- Scribble (middle) — a thin black hand-drawn loop or line weaving through or behind the focal element; adds motion and a sketched quality.
- Illustration or photo (top) — the focal point: a brand illustration (planet, cairn, telephone, compass, armillary sphere…) or a photo.
Everything overlaps and sits slightly off-center — hand-placed, never a symmetric grid. One spot color per collage. Production note: crop watercolor spots with a low alpha threshold (~10–30) so you don’t clip the organic edge, and scale a spot from its center, never a corner.
The three service collages
Each service area has a fixed collage identity — a specific illustration and watercolor colorway that recurs everywhere the service appears (homepage cards, service-page heroes, case-study colorways). Keep these pairings consistent; they’re how the brand signals which kind of work you’re looking at. Each is still the same three-layer build (spot → scribble → illustration) — only the variables below change.
